Advisory Group Charter
Everybody quarrels. Keeps people from getting bored.
-- Greta Garbo as Marguerite Gautier in CAMILLE (1937)

The primary purpose of the Advisory Group is to provide the opportunity for the exchange of information and ideas related to the development of the generic search system outlined in the project proposal. The Advisory Group is made of persons from units or projects that have related interests and need to maintain awareness of the project development.

Advisory Group members should plan on meeting for an hour once a month during the project period. A listserve and website will be used to relate strictly informational material. In addition to these regular meetings the project team will be providing a series of presentations covering background and related material such as XML tagging for Social Sciences Codebooks, Nesstar, the Data Documentation Initiative, authoring tools specific to the DDI DTD, and search system interface and query alternatives. Advisory Group members are expected to become familiar with these topics through presentations and outside reading. This series of presentations will be open to any interested individuals and will be publicized to a self-identified XML interest group as well as the Library staff.
